blurgl Inc. is a boutique consultancy primarily focused on the services provided by its owner and principal consultant, Duncan Lennox.

What We Do

Duncan works as a CTO For Hire on engagements that run from as little as a single day to projects that can run anything from 3 months to a year.

We primarily work in the areas of learning, collaboration and content management technology.

The work ranges from the engineering side of the house (designing or validating architectures and product roadmaps) to the business side (product positioning and marketing, analyst relations and revenue models.)

Currently this work is tending to include significant elements of "Web 2.0" goodness, helping organizations develop sensible strategies for if, how, and to what extent they should incorporate both the technological (such as Ajax, REST APIs and the like) and cultural aspects (community building, transparency and engaging in conversations) of Web 2.0 into their products and services.

Example Projects

The following are some examples of projects we have completed with clients recently:

• Technical review of a SaaS providers product architecture and hardware infrastructure as part of the due diligence exercise for an investment by a private equity firm.
• Developed and delivered a workshop for a Fortune 500 company to enable them to better understand and, if appropriate, build a business case for a Learning Content Management System (LCMS)
• Web site and application architecture review for an analyst organization to validate and make recommendations on their underlying technology and functional capabilities for their product offerings for the next 3 years.
• Developed an information architecture and functional specification for an intranet based content management system for a government agency. Reviewed options, recommended an open source product and lead the deployment of the technology through to site launch.
